While this may not violate laws or guidelines, it definitely violates the GPA Code of Ethics.  As a member of GPA, we are not to take a commission/percentage of the grant total but are to work for a salary or fee. The agency/organization is paying the grant professional to write the proposal for a project or need that the organization has identified. This type of proposed payment method hurts all grant professionals as all funders are awarding dollars for the project/need, not the skills of the grant professional. Evaluate your options and communicate the reasons why this is not supported and not in line with your values. It can be a teachable moment that could impact your GPA membership and GPC credential if you are one. (GPA Code of Ethics 1, 19)

Yes! We are available to review and give notes and coaching on grants you find and write yourself. This is the most affordable option for our grant writing expertise. We can also provide coaching and review together.

No. We are here to help train and execute. We do not provide long-term grant management. We will aid in best practices and setting up systems if needed.

Just because someone has a computer in front of them it doesn’t mean they know how to make it work for them efficiently. There is always the possibility that new advancements can help bring your department or program to the next level - not to mention there is always high turnover at any nonprofit. The reality is that there is a cost associated with technology. However, we are very knowledgeable regarding free and low-cost technology solutions available to 501(c)3 organizations. While there are some things you should not cut costs with, others have more inexpensive solutions available that many are unaware of in the market. We can work up a complete budget and plan for both immediate short-term projects, and long-term projects and planning based on need.

Sometimes there are recommendations we make that are beyond our scope of ability – for example, it may be time to implement a new file server. While we can identify this need for you and give you a plan for implementation, we would refer you to our service partner BMK Media Outsourced IT Solutions if you do not have an inhouse IT staff member or established relationship with another IT company already.

Many nonprofits have a single development professional who wears many hats. We are here to help streamline their role through the use of fundraising technology and best practices for staying organized. If you have a fundraiser who is new to the fundraising side of the house, or you are a small nonprofit with a CEO/Executive Director who does all of the fundraising without a fundraising background, we can give them the systems and training they need to be successful.

We can help you vet and demo a new CRM system to meet your needs. Keep in mind no solution will be perfect. They all have their quirks. But we can guide you through selection and implementation. We will not do full onboarding. That will be left to the CRM provider. We teach best practices for utilizing the system.
